A man was severely injured after he was pinned between his vehicle and a huge motorhome near Oceanside, afternoon of April 21.
California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Bettencourt said the accident occurred on the side of Route 76 when a 34-foot motorhome driven by 58-year-old Jeffrey Thomas Smith crashed into the back of a vehicle where another man was securing items. The man’s wife felt the sudden impact and saw her husband squeezed between the vehicles. The victim, whose name is currently being withheld, was airlifted to Palomar Medical Center. His wife was not injured, according to authorities.
Smith was arrested on charges of felony drunken driving causing injury with $100,000 bail and was booked in Vista Detention Facility, Officer Bettencourt said. An arraignment was scheduled for Smith on Tuesday.
