A 27-year-old driver was arrested for suspected drunk driving by the San Diego police after his car crashed into a duplex on Pacific Beach earlier this month.
According to the driver, Jonathan Cowden, the accident occurred as he was trying to access his lighter. His Mercedes Benz CLK then crashed into a house near Thomas Avenue and Noyes Street at around 7 pm. No injuries were reported after the crash. Cowden was arrested and taken to jail after a reportedly poor performance on a sobriety test.
The duplex involved in the accident has sustained major damage, and residents aren’t able to stay there because of the serious structural concerns.
