NFL wide receiver arrested for aggravated DUI

Justin Blackmon gained national attention for his football skills when he was playing as a wide receiver for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. He was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and has yet to sign his official contract.

Blackmon has recently made the news again after he was pulled over and arrested in Stillwater, Oklahoma for driving under the influence. Police signaled the football player to pull his car over around 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, and noticed that he appeared to be intoxicated. According to police, he was speeding and swerving before he was pulled over.

Justin was unable to pass the field sobriety tests, and was taken to the Payne County jail. While he was there, he gave a blood sample, and his blood alcohol content was calculated at 0.24, three times more than the legal limit. He was booked, and charged with an aggravated DUI.

Woman sentenced for fatal car-bike crash

A 24 year-old woman has been sentenced to six years in prison after she struck a bicyclist while she was intoxicated last summer. The woman pleaded guilty to felony hit and run causing death and felony gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

The accident occurred last July in Carlsbad. Witnesses say they saw the woman’s pickup truck hit a curb, crash into some bushes, and then drive away. Police later found the body of a 64 year-old man who was hit while he was riding his bike.

Authorities later found the truck at a nearby apartment complex. Officers say the vehicle was empty but they found the woman hiding in the bushes.

Man arrested for fourth DUI after car accident

A man has been arrested for his fourth DUI after a car accident occurred in Novato.

According to a California State Patrol officer, the 28-year-old man was arrested at his home after he was involved in a hit-and-run crash.

The crash was reported at 12:45 a.m. where police found two damaged cars and it was reported that a third vehicle left the scene. After the third vehicle was described, police were directed to the man’s home and found that the damage on the vehicle was consistent with the damage of the other two vehicles.

The man was then arrested for suspicion of a DUI, his fourth drunk driving arrest. He was also charged with driving with a suspended license.

Thirteen arrested for DUI over weekend

Thirteen people were arrested for drunk driving near Pleasure Point over the weekend.

According to the California Highway Patrol, there was 13 drunk driving arrests and one felony bust that occurred after someone called to reportĀ  erratic driving.

Once stopped by police officials, it was determined that the man was driving intoxicated and that he had four previous DUI convictions. After being arrested and charged with suspicion of felony drunk driving and violating his probation, he was taken to jail where he remained overnight.

Charges filed after alleged DUI accident

Felony DUI charges have been filed against a woman after an alleged DUI accident occurred and left one Los Banos firefighter dead.

According to California Highway Patrol, a 24-year-old woman has been charged with a felony DUI causing bodily injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Police arrested the woman after the accident when she struck a motorcyclist and he died three days later in the hospital. If convicted of both of these charges, the woman faces up to 10 years in prison. The man was off duty at the time of the accident and was unable to avoid that woman while driving on Highway 165.

Drunk driver sentenced to three years

A 68-year-old man, who was participating in a conversion program meant to keep him out of custody, was arrested for driving drunk at the intersection of highways 395 and 88.

This was not the first drunk driving incident for the individual. In fact, he was sentenced to DUI court in 2008 after being found guilty of driving drunk for the third time in seven years. The man’s attorney believes that his reckless behavior stems from losing his wife of 49 years to cancer.

Although he could have received 15 years for his second felony DUI, the judge sentenced the man to just three years in prison. He will be eligible for parole after he has served 13 months of his sentence.

Man arrested for DUI while driving motor home

A man was arrested for a felony DUI while driving a motor home on U.S. Highway 101. The arrest occurred because the man was involved in an accident that injured two people.

The incident occurred as a 24-year-old was driving a motor home and he struck a guardrail and a tree on the side of the roadway. According to California Highway Patrol, it was the man’s level of intoxication that caused him to lose control of the motor home.

The driver was not injured, but two people that were in the back of the home were injured. They were both transported to the hospital as a result. The CHP is currently investigating the incident.

Task force searching for those with DUI warrants

The California Highway Patrol has created a task force that is seeking more than 330,000 people who are wanted for impaired driving misdemeanor to felony warrants.

This effort is beginning now and will continue on until Sept. 30. A person who has a DUI warrant out can either turn themselves in to the highway patrol or they will be arrested wherever they are.

Highway patrol is hoping that this tougher DUI enforcement will help to create a safer environment by preventing people from drinking and driving.

Olympian charged with felony drunk driving charge

Olympian, Alvin Harrison, has been charged with a felony driving under the influence charge and a judge has recently determined that there is enough evidence to continue with the trial.

Harrison and his twin brother were high school track stars who continued on to the Olympics and both won gold medals in 1996 and 2006. They were later stripped of a gold medal when it was found that they started using performance-enhancing drugs.

The drunk driving charge stems from an accident that occurred on Interstate 73 when Harrison plowed into another vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to two felony counts and one misdemeanor count.

Teen under arrest for DUI after bicycle accident

A 19-year-old in Santa Cruz man has been arrested for a DUI and his 13-year-old passenger is in the hospital after an accident.

The incident occurred on Saturday night when the 19-year-old was driving a “pocket bike” down the roadway. According to California Highway Patrol, the bike was not registered to drive on roads and did not have proper lighting.

When police approached the vehicle, it struck a Nissan causing both the driver and passenger to sustain injuries. The 19-year-old was arrested for felony DUI and felony child endangerment.
