A 68-year-old man, who was participating in a conversion program meant to keep him out of custody, was arrested for driving drunk at the intersection of highways 395 and 88.
This was not the first drunk driving incident for the individual. In fact, he was sentenced to DUI court in 2008 after being found guilty of driving drunk for the third time in seven years. The man’s attorney believes that his reckless behavior stems from losing his wife of 49 years to cancer.
Although he could have received 15 years for his second felony DUI, the judge sentenced the man to just three years in prison. He will be eligible for parole after he has served 13 months of his sentence.
