Drunk driver arrested after fatal Fresno accident

On Monday morning in Fresno, a fatal drunk driving accident unfolded on SR-216. A 36-year-old Ivanhoe man was driving north on SR-216 when he drifted into southbound traffic and struck a pick-up truck head on.

The impact of the collision caused the pick-up truck driver, 56, to be pronounced dead at the scene. Both men had to be cut from their vehicles, and the alleged drunk driver was transported by helicopter to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. The man was placed into custody while at the hospital on the allegations that he was driving under the influence.

The identity of the drunk driving accident victim will not be released until his family has been properly notified. Officers involved in investigating the accident have asked the general public to come forward with any helpful information.

Labor Day weekend in San Diego sees several DUI arrests

Between Friday and Monday, there were 69 DUI arrests in San Diego during the Labor Day festivities.

The California Highway Patrol released these numbers, showing that this amount had decreased from the previous year when there were 91 arrests for drunk driving made during the same time frame.

Drunk driving accidents that occurred over the holiday weekend claimed two lives in the San Diego area, and caused approximately 1,363 people to be arrested across the state of California.

DUI charge issued to NFL defensive tackle

Alabama State Troopers have issued a driving under the influence charge to Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley.

Fairley, a first round draft pick in 2011, was pulled over in Mobile after he was driving 100 miles per hour at 1 a.m. Sunday morning. He was charged with a DUI, open container violation, reckless endangerment, and not having vehicle insurance.

Fairley was processed, booked, and then released by 9 a.m. the same day of his DUI arrest. The NFL player is also facing other charges stemming from an April arrest. Those charges are in regards to drug possession.

LAPD arrest beauty pageant winner, Tori Vance, on DUI charges

Tori Vance was 16 years old when she was crowned the 2010 Miss Arizona Teen USA winner. Two years later, at the age of 18, Vance is in the spotlight for a different reason: driving under the influence.

Vance was driving in Los Angeles on Cinco de Mayo when she failed to make a U-turn in the correct area. A Los Angeles police officer pulled over the young beauty queen and asked her to participate in a field sobriety test. She went through the common functions of a field sobriety test and allegedly failed.

She was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. Vance has yet to make a public statement about her arrest, but according to sources, she still has plans to take part in the Miss California 2013 pageant.
